IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY NOTES:
SonicPoint-Ni, SonicPoint-Ne & SonicPoint-N Dual-Radio
The SonicPoint-Ni, SonicPoint-Ne & SonicPoint-N Dual-Radio are the current models available and only supported on Gen 5 SonicWALL firewalls (TZ 100/200/210 & NSA/E-Class NSA) and running firmware 5.6.x and later. It is unlikely that these latest Ni, Ne & N D-R models will be given backward compatible with earlier models of firewalls.
SonicPoint-N
The SonicPoint-N is no longer available and has been replaced by the SonicPoint-Ne [01-SSC-8578] & SonicPoint-Ni [01-SSC-8576]
The SonicPoint-N is compatibile with all Gen5 SonicWALL firewalls running firmware 5.x and later.
Most Gen4 SonicWALL firewalls (including the TZ180/190 or PRO2040/3060/4060/4100/5060) are compatible when using the firmware 4.2.1.0-20 - Release Date: Jan 5, 2010, and later versions.
These earlier firewalls will need a current support contract to be able to download this latest firmware version, here.
SonicPoint Wireless Access Points
SonicWALL (dual-band) SonicPoint-N, SonicPoint-Ni, SonicPoint-Ni & SonicPoint-N Dual-Radio access points are based on the IEEE 802.11n standard to provide secure, faster access to data, voice and video over high-bandwidth wireless LANs. Scalable to networks of any size, these SonicPoint access points require no pre-configuration, as they are centrally configured and managed by any SonicWALL Network Security Appliance. SonicPoint-N, SonicPoint-Ni, SonicPoint-Ni & SonicPoint-N Dual-Radio security includes Wireless Intrusion Detection Services (WIDS), wireless firewalling, Virtual Access Points (VAP), secure wireless roaming, and integrated Wireless Guest Services (WGS). SonicPoints are ceiling and wall mountable, and receive Power over Ethernet (PoE) from a SonicWALL IEEE 802.3af-compliant PoE Injector or other compliant third-party device. SonicPoint-Ne Dual-Band access points can also be powered directly through an AC adapter.
